Everything in existence was created through intention. Intentions are what shape our destiny. Our intentions and desires, no matter how small or insignificant they may seem to us, become catalysts for action. It is the series of these subsequent actions that will dictate the course of our lives. Intentions can therefore be thought of as goals worthy of our attention, focus, and positive energy. We have access to nature’s most powerful tool to help us achieve these goals: the MOON. The moon represents all in existence: it represents Intuition, Wisdom, Birth, and Death.
The moon goes through eight phases every month. If we can learn to tap into the moon’s energy at each of these phases, our lives can grow and thrive like flowers in rich soil. Setting rituals for yourself and making a goal manifestation plan attuned to the phases of the moon can help you achieve any of the intentions you set for yourself. Each phase represents a stage of the flower’s growth. We begin by planting the seed at the New Moon with the energy of new beginnings. With the waxing crescent, we set our intentions and allow the energy of the First Quarter to strengthen our resolve towards action. We refine our goals with the Waxing Gibbous and release our intention into the universe during the Full Moon.
The next three phases focus our attention on gratitude, forgiveness and surrendering. We are reminded to approach our goals with love and a thankful heart, to forgive ourselves for our imperfections, and to surrender ourselves to the universe. By surrendering, we empower ourselves with the knowledge that our intentions and goals will grow as they are meant to.
Even if you don’t find the time to perform rituals at each moon phase, or if you are a bit overwhelmed with all of the information on moon phases and possibilities, you can focus your attention on the New Moon and the Full Moon. At the New Moon, you plant your seeds (your intentions). What is it that you want to accomplish? What do you need in order to attain your goals? At the Full Moon, you can re-evaluate. What is it that no longer serves you? What unhelpful or burdensome aspects of your life can you get rid of? I find that writing down that which no longer serves me, and performing a burning ceremony, helps to eliminate those aspects of my life that no longer serve my purpose.
The moon is nature’s gift to us. It’s a source of immense strength and guidance, if we could only learn to tune out the noises and sounds of everyday worries and fear.
